New procedures to strengthen National Responsible Gambling Strategy

Posted on 27 May 2016

New processes to ensure the commissioning of research into gambling is easily understood have been published.

The Research Commissioning and Governance Procedure explains the roles and responsibilities of the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board (RGSB), GambleAware and the Gambling Commission.

It also improves transparency and helps researchers by setting out the processes for determining priorities, arrangements for commissioning research and guidelines for quality assurance, peer review and publication.

Sir Christopher Kelly, RGSB chairman, said:

“The publication of this procedure makes clear who is responsible for each step of the commissioning process. It should reassure every one of its integrity and independence and will, we hope, encourage a wider range of researchers from relevant disciplines to respond to invitations to tender.”
